If you don't follow me on Instagram you've been missing out on lots of pictures of how the new house is coming along.

And I get it...some of you just don't want to add one more app or social media commitment to your life! I completely understand.

Hence...my decision to start sharing periodic "Insta Snapshots" of my Instagram feed so I can keep you in the loop with things you may be missing out on.

HOME DECOR | Summer Collapsed Into Fall

Ella is back in school.
Summer is slipping away.
The sun will be "collapsing" into the moon later today during the total solar eclipse.
And so yes...a new sign felt very appropriate.

This quote by Oscar Wilde sums up my feelings exactly on letting go of Summer. (you guys already know how I feel about it by now...it's the same song and dance every year for me, isn't it?). *wink*

Ella is home sick today...
I probably would've just kept her home anyway because apparently strange things happen during an eclipse. Have you heard that? Do you believe it?
Regardless, I'm taking advantage of the extra snuggle time I get with her.

Truthfully, I don't really care much about the eclipse and I'm feeling super guilty about it.
Would you believe me if I told you I didn't even know it was even happening until a couple of weeks ago?

I'm standing in a CVS getting ready to check out and some lady walks in and asks the cashier if they carry solar eclipse glasses. I literally thought to myself, "What a weirdo. Who walks in and asks for that?"  I forgot about the incident and two days later a neighbor mentioned her plans of traveling to Tennessee for optimal viewing of the eclipse. I pretended to know what she was talking about. Then the very next day, a friend told me her husband and her two girls had plans to travel to see it as well. Are you kidding me??? Hello? Where in the world had I been? Under a rock apparently. *giggling*

I personally think I would go with this "Apple Wedge" approach when setting up an interactive Caramel Apple Bar. It just seems more cost-effective and way more practical since I think kids and adults are less likely to eat an entire apple.

Besides that, I like the thought of being able to try a couple of different flavor combinations instead of being stuck with only one - who's with me on that? *wink*

Speaking of the caramel...
When prepping for the photoshoot, I just so happened to see the jar in the overflow fridge when I was grabbing the apples. Which means I didn't have to make some or buy some to use in the photos. AND...I'm pretty sure it's from last Fall, when I made caramel apple pie! *hands over eyes*

SHOPPE | NEW Art Print :: The Answer is Always LOVE

You'll find me adding new inspirational art prints to my shoppe on a regular basis throughout 2015.

This is all part of my strategy for finding ways to help others SHINE. See my OLW for 2015.

Each new art print will include a mix of my hand-lettering + fonts.

So here's my first official new art print for 2015... "The Answer is Always LOVE"

The idea behind the quote is something I personally came to terms with recently.
No matter what the situation or struggle might be…
family issues, combative teenagers, children (or adults) with selective hearing syndrome, hurt feelings, frustration in the check-out line, the driver in front making a left hand turn around the world at a snail's pace, fear + anxiety, etc.

If I step back for a minute and look at things from the perspective of "love"…
It's amazing how differently I handle or react to things.
I came to this understanding when I was frustrated about something with my middle daughter.
(at my wits end, actually). I was grasping at straws…looking for answers when it struck me with a bolt of lightning! The answer is always LOVE.

And of course love comes in many forms:
Patience, understanding, forgiveness, a hug, a smile, and even sometimes silence or rather biting your tongue.

I created several printable versions, gold, color, or black + white, all grouped together in one pack available now in my Etsy Shoppe.

I will definitely be creating an oversized version of this for my home…
and although it's appropriate year-round…how awesome is it as Valentine's Day decor too!?

I think people (including myself) automatically assume once kids go back to school there will be

End of day: everything is 1/2 done or completely UNDONE!

This creative girl with a brain that doesn't stop has a hard time focusing as it is...

I've designed a fair amount of silhouettes for my shoppe ever since I opened it a few years ago.
Remember when so many of you were encouraging me to OPEN the shoppe in the first place?
Fast-forward a few years and I've now found myself so busy creating invitations, party accessories and custom silhouettes there never seems to be enough time to actually load half of things I create into the shoppe.

When Etsy finally launched an "INSTANT DOWNLOAD" feature a couple of months or so ago...
I knew it was time to finally get the silhouettes loaded.

The "Signature Silhouettes" have been made available for the many of you who love designing your own invitations and party accessories. I've even had customers looking for silhouettes to use in conjunction with their Silhouette Cutting Machines as well as to create templates and stencils for making t-shirts and other creative art.

You can purchase these Signature Silhouettes for just a few bucks, download them instantly and create as many things as you want to FOR PERSONAL USE! You may not purchase them for creating invitations and other items to then resell as your own.

With that said, small business owners looking for the option to purchase silhouettes to create fun things for resale have other licensing options to choose from.
