DiSCOVER | Video on Instagram

Tuesday, June 25

Just in case you haven't already heard the big news...
Instagram now has video capability!!

CLICK HERE to see the first on-the-go Instavideo I made over the weekend?
I know...not that impressive technically but cut me some slack - this is all still new to me! *wink*

It's similar to the concept Vine offered
with the following key (& fabulous) differences:
- 15 sec video vs. 6 seconds that Vine offered.
- 13 video filters vs. ZERO filters from Vine.
- loads straight to your Instagram feed.

and if you've already started your own Instavideos...
here are some fun links to look at to improve your Instavideo experiences and just for fun:
- Discover your favorite celebrity videos
- Turn your "auto play" feature off if you don't want videos to automatically start playing...
(Go to "Settings" and then "Preferences")

Want to get started creating your own Instavideos?
UPGRADE to the latest version of Instagram right here:

If you don't already follow me on Instagram...

KEEPiNG iT REAL
My actual VERY FIRST on-the-go video was of my first visit to Mellow Mushroom.
Unfortunately, the battery on my phone was low before I started recording and it died before I finished.
We then went to Le Macaron right after Mellow Mushroom so I was only able to charge my phone in the car for about 10 minutes as we were driving. I wasn't sure I would get it filmed and posted before my phone died again. Lucky for me the timing of it all worked out...just barely!!

Lesson? Make sure your battery is fully charged so you don't have to be so freaked and stressed out about capturing a momentous occasion that you sacrifice video quality! *frown*

RECiPE RADAR | No-Guilt Veggie Pizza

Monday, March 18

As much as I'd love to share desserts-only every time I do a "Recipe Radar" post with you...
the reality is...
I'm also a mom who is always looking for ways to incorporate healthy meal options for my family...
and ultimately, for myself.

I obviously LOVE sweets and desserts...
Did you see the Irish Cream Pies I most recently shared?
BUT...believe it or not...there's more to me than just sugary treats!
I also love finding new, creative ways to introduce my kids to healthy eating options.
In fact, I'm pretty passionate about it. (when sugar isn't distracting me)!

So instead of sharing all things "sugar" with you every time I create a "Recipe Radar" post...
it only seems right to also share the other choices I'm making (or would like to make).

Today's recipe comes from Self Magazine and is something that caught my eye for several reasons:
#1: It looks appealing
#2: It's versatile
#3: It's simple and quick (something fun I can teach my girls to make)
#4: It had Carrie Underwood's name associated with it *wink*

No matter where you are on your "health journey"...
you can adapt this recipe to suit your needs.

For instance, the recipe calls for using a tortilla as the crust.
Beginners can opt to use a flour tortilla.
Intermediates can opt to use a whole grain tortilla
Advanced can use the suggested Organic Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain tortillas found at health food stores.
And for those who are sensitive to wheat...
you can also find Gluten and Wheat-Free tortillas in your local health food stores.

You can do the same thing with the cheese too. (use your favorite - Feta, Goat, or just regular ole Mozzarella).
I, myself, will be using Olive Oil or Grapeseed Oil to replace the "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray".

CARRIE UNDERWOOD'S NO-GUILT VEGGIE PIZZA
serves 2

Ingredients
Vegetable oil cooking spray
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray
1 Food for Life Organic Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain (or whole-grain) 9-inch tortilla
1/4 cup pizza sauce
1/4 cup 2 percent shredded mozzarella
16 slices Yves Veggie Meatless Pepperoni (or 3 slices lean sandwich meat, cut into small pieces)
Vegetable toppings of your choice
1 cup mixed greens (optional)

Preparation
Heat oven to 400°. Coat a cookie sheet or pizza stone with cooking spray. Spray I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray on both sides of tortilla; place tortilla on sheet; spread with pizza sauce; sprinkle with cheese. Top with pepperoni slices and your favorite vegetable toppings. Bake until tortilla is crispy and cheese has melted, about 5 minutes. Top with mixed greens, if desired. Cut into 4 slices and enjoy.

The Skinny
239 calories per two slices, 6 g fat (1 g saturated), 20 g carbs, 3 g fiber, 26 g protein

So there you go...
Either stick to the recommendations in the recipe...
or change it up...
it's your choice...as long as you keep it healthy! *wink*

BY THE WAY...
just to put this out there...
I will never share a recipe for my "Recipe Radar" posts that I haven't REALLY wanted to try...
or something that I don't REALLY intend on making. I pinky promise!!

And if you have a fabulous recipe you've found that you'd like to share...
PLEASE send it my way!
I'm always looking for something new!
